Agency’s Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) contract is a multiple-award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) vehicle established to give MDA and other Department of Defense organizations a fast, flexible way to acquire layered defense capabilities against threats from the air, sea, land, space, and cyber domains.

Spanning a ten-year period of performance with a maximum ceiling of $151 billion, SHIELD covers both classified and unclassified work across a broad set of mission areas — from science and technology, research and development and proto-typing through systems engineering, production, testing, sustainment, and cybersecurity. Rather than running a separate competition for every requirement, MDA and authorized DoD entities can issue task orders directly under this single enterprise vehicle,  accelerating the delivery of critical missile defense capability to the warfighter.
