IMTAS, an IT management and consulting firm offering managed IT support solutions, announced a federal task order win with the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Division to provide Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformation (XSLT) support. The contract is in support of the ongoing CJIS National Crime Information Center’s (NCIC) 3rd Generation (N3G) initiative. IMTAS is supported by Ariel Partners as a subcontractor offering software development, consulting, coaching, and training services.
The NCIC provides criminal justice agencies and law enforcement nationwide access to records that assists in locating missing or wanted persons, recovering stolen property, and sharing information about foreign and domestic terrorists. The N3G initiative ensures upgrades to the database which allows for greater accessibility, quantity, and quality of information, as well as decreases the rate of false positives.

During the six months of development, IMTAS will develop XSLT scripts to provide backward compatible transformation from the NCIC N3G Extensible Markup Language (XML) to the NCIC legacy dot delimited format. This backward compatibility feature will enable resource-constrained agencies to continue accessing the NCIC N3G using their existing programs and devices after the new N3G system launches online. By providing backward compatibility in this way, agencies will have additional flexibility to plan their system upgrades to the N3G.
